NEC CLASSIC SHOW CANCELLED

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show set to be staged at the NEC 13-15 November has been cancelled. Show spokesman Lee Masters said ; “It is with great sadness that I announce to you today that we have decided there is no alternative but to postpone the 2020 edition of the show, despite pulling out all the stops to try and make the annual season finale happen.”

Members who have already bought tickets can find out more information on the show’s website https://www.necclassicmotorshow.com

The Register had already decided not exhibit at the show due to the changing nature of the pandemic & pressure on Board members to man the stand under the current Government guidelines. More about that in the next SIXappeal being mailed next week.

TRIUMPH PICNIC & PORK PULLED

For those members who may not have heard, the Triumph Picnic & Hog Roast at Walton Hall, Warks on 20th September has been cancelled. Although the open air event should have made social distancing easy the ever-changing Coronavirus situation has lead the organisers to postpone the event. It is intended to hold the gathering sometime next May.

Great reading for sporting Big Saloon Fans!

Top Triumph rallyman Brian Culcheth’s new biography has just gone on sale. And what a cracking tome it is! A must for anyone with an interest in Big Saloon sporting history this book really is superb. Not wordy or stodgy but something you’ll want to dip into often. I have tried to negotiate a discount for members but Brian is selling this at the bargain price of £25 so his margin is tiny for such a large volume. Brian is a great advocate of the Register & it would be great to reciprocate by supporting him & treating yourself to a copy. You won’t be disappointed – full review in the next SIXappeal. There’s a great overview & purchase details here:

Membership Shop PayPal Problem

Update (Monday 13 July 2020 at 18.30): the problem has at long last been fixed. I’m sorry, but we are still having problems with the PayPal connection with the website membership shop. Please bear with us while we get it fixed. If you have tried to renew but haven’t been able to, please let the Membership Secretary know (you can send an email via Who’s Who) and we’ll keep your membership current and let you know when the shop is working again. For further information contact the Webmaster (email via Who’s Who). We are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

Past Nationals photo gallery now live

As I’m sure most of you are aware this week should have been the Triumph 2000 / 2500 / 2.5 Register National Rally but due to Coronavirus has had to be cancelled.

Just to show you what you’ve missed and what you’re missing the gallery page of past Nationals is now up and running. Available from the menu or by following the link: triumph2000register.co.uk/gallery
We still need a lot more photos to make it complete. It would be great if you have any that you’d like to share to get them to me this week and we’ll see how many we can get uploaded before Sunday, what would have been the last day of the rally.

Montage shows a small selection of my favourites that are currently viewable.

Years we need photos for: 1998 we only have one. 1989-1991, 1993-1996, 1997 we only have two, 1998, 2000-2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014.
Please don’t send any more than ten. File size doesn’t need to be any larger than 1500 pixels wide/2mb in size. For older photo prints, scanned images are preferred (most printers have scanning facilities these days). Just photographing them on a mobile phone tends not to work.

If you don’t have a scanner but are happy to post them to Paul Girling, 76 Richmond Road, Saham Toney, Thetford, Norfolk, IP25 7EU. I’ll scan and return them next time I’m allowed out for my weekly shop.

If you can also put where and when the National was that would be great.

2020 National Cancelled

We have decided, with great regret, that because of the coronavirus pandemic it will not be possible to hold our national rally this year. It will be the first time since 1982 that we have been unable to hold the event, but the safety and well-being of our members, many of whom could be in the “at risk” category, is paramount.

The current restrictions mean that the venue is closed at the moment, and it is very unlikely that the lock-down will be lifted in time for us to organise the rally.

There is some good news, though: we have been able to secure the same venue for the same week in 2021. So the next “National” will be held at St Audries Bay from Monday 28th June 2021 to Monday 5th July 2021. We are hoping that we will be able to keep the same prices as this year.

We have contacted everyone who has booked for this year’s National to let them know. All are being offered either a full refund or to carry over their booking to the 2021 National.

We are extremely sad that we have had to take this decision, but let’s all look forward to a great event next year.

If you need any further information please contact Colin and Amanda Radford, our National Coordinators (see Who’s Who).

COVID-19 UPDATED 14 JUNE 2020

As the current Coronavirus situation continues to rapidly unfold, it is affecting each of us in different ways and is likely to continue to do so over the coming weeks and months.  Note: There is a newer post giving further information about the National.
