Clevedon Cars & Coffee – 13th September 2025

13th September 2025 saw Clevedon Cars & Coffee host Triumphs as their wild card at The Hawthorns. The weather gods were kind to us that morning! Whilst our Register cars were small in number, it was a good opportunity to put the world to right with the local Bristol group.

For those of you that haven’t been to Clevedon Cars & Coffee, we thoroughly recommend it. They run a free car show every second Saturday of the month, throughout the year, irrespective of the weather. Normally they have various locations throughout the town, approx 0.4 miles apart, based on the year of manufacture of your car. However the forecasted weather, meant the organisers were keen for “faces over fenders” and relocated some of the normal areas to the central Salthouse Fields.

The Hawthorns hosted the Triumphs as planned. Along with our big sixes, there were a couple of Renowns, a prototype Herald and a Vitesse who bravely had it’s soft top down! While Salthouse Fields hosted a HUGE range of cars including supercars…so my boys were happy! This particular day, the organisers were unveiling Lola T-70, the car used in Steve McQueen’s 1965 unfinished movie, Day of the Champion. He had become unwell during filming, delaying production, resulting in Grand Prix being released before this film was finished.

During the July Clevedon Cars & Coffee, the Stephens’ Monument was unveiled at SixWays roundabout. This was to commemorate Clevedon as the home of British motoring. Clevedon Motor Company created the first entirely-British built and designed motor car in 1898.

Triumphs on Tour 2020 – The Causeway Coast

The Causeway Coast tour with Scenic Car Tours, September 2020
One of the few car events to take place during 2020. Five big Triumphs (and a Vitesse) do the Northern Ireland Causeway Coastal tour over five days. Along with the beautiful coastline sites included the Giant’s Causway, the Titanic Museum, the Torr Scenic Route and a myriad of coastal villages and ports including Ballycastle, Portrush and Port Stewart. A full report was published in the December 2020 SIXappeal magazine.

Triumphs on Tour 2009 – Normandy

On Thursday April 9th we took the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo and checked in at the Ibis Hotel at Port en Bessin. For Good Friday’s day out we explored the city wall in St Malo and then drove in convoy to Mont St Michel (it poured with rain all morning!) and after lunch returned to our hotel for evening meals. Saturday saw us drive to Bayeux to visit the WWII cemeteries, the cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry. On Easter Sunday we drove to Omaha Beach to visit the US cemetery and Museum, then Arromanches  to see the Mulberry Harbour remains. On Monday we headed off to catch the night ferry home from Caen (Ouistreham) via Pegasus Bridge for coffee at the famous cafe there, and Honfleur.
A thourougly enjoyable trip!
