PRESS OFFICER’S REPORT FEBRUARY – MARCH 2026

The Register’s Press Office has been busy in the last month preparing and issuing the first press releases to the national Classic Car press and the Cornish Press and Media.

1: 2026 National – The “teaser” first press release went out on 4th February. This went to all the national classic car press and all the local press and media that covers Cornwall. This has appeared in various Cornish weekly papers and in various Classic Car publications. The next press release will go out in mid Apriland final pre week one in early May.

2: Atlantic Garage Blue Plaque – The finished plaque is with me and all we need to do now is sort a suitable date for the unveiling in Weston Super Mare. This is in hand.

3: The Triumph 3000 that was reported on in a feature in Classics Magazine in January 2023. Following the further research I did on this, which is lodged in the Register archives, I have written an article on this for Classics World magazine to follow up on their article, so they can update readers and I sent this in to the editor, Paul Wager on 22 January. He confirmed that this will appear over several pages with photos – not sure when but a real result!

4: Classics World started what is going to be an occasional regular feature in their previous issue to the latest one, about how two people met and changed the course of motoring history. They naturally started with Rolls and Royce meeting in Manchester. I hit upon an idea to follow this up with the founder of Triumph, Siegfried Bettmann meeting ColonelHolbrook at the start of WW1 which subsequently led to Holbrook joining Triumph after the war and the two of them heading a company that produced the first sporting saloon cars, for which Triumph became world famous. Watch this space!

5: NextGen – Classic Car Weekly have started running a series of one page articles called “Next Generation Diaries”where they feature a younger classic car enthusiast’s car. Having seen the first two I got in touch with the editor about NextGen and could they feature one of our members cars. Hehas responded favourably and passed it over to the Features Editor, Chris Hope who runs this page. In the meantime I contacted Keiron who has suggested we use Jake Witor’s car and Jake has given me all the information and pictures so he and I can put together the article to send to Chris Hope.

Chris Hope has been in touch with me and is happy to feature Jake’s car so I have now put together the article with Jake and sent it into Chris. Jake have been in communication with him and was told the article will feature in Classic Car Weekly on 4 February. It did not, nor on 11 February. I understand that it is now being featured on 1 April and have advised Jake.
