Mk1 doors

#1 Post by TedTaylor »

Hi everyone.
I could do with some good Mk1 doors after the ones that I thought were coming did not materialise, and while waiting I passed up on a good drivers side front one which I now need fairly urgently.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Yes I understand that Mk2 can be fiddled with a bit to fit Mk1 but not the other way around.

As far as I know, they are externally identical to a Mk1, and internally identical (ie. all captives, holes and mounting points for door furniture the same as a Mk1) but with additional holes, captives and mounting points for Mk2 door furniture.

I do have a good stash of reasonable Mk2 doors here is Essex, but prob a bit too far away from you to be useful!

What I have found when swapping doors around though is that a lot of them are physically variable in size and hence the way they fit in relation to the other doors/wings - some of them differ by quite a lot!

Hi Mike

I need a really good drivers door for the Mk1 PI estate and need to get one to Andy near Norwich who is sorting the body work ASAP. When he stripped the paint for the bare metal respray he found the door not good at all :(

Transportation to Andy in Norwich might actually be achievable!

You may be in luck - I have to keep a set of 3 best doors for my PI, but I'm pretty sure that the drivers door is the only one that the car does not need!

Until I can get down the farm though I cannot say if there is a decent drivers door going spare. Am working for the rest of the week, will try and get down there around NY.

I'll let you know

Rgds

Its not the good news you were hoping for Ted.

Out of the 8+ doors in the shed, only one was a front - unfortunately a passenger side one. The rest although including a pair from an estate are all rears - sorry.

I do have a couple of friends locally that may have something on the off chance, will make enquiries and let you know

Happy New Year

Thanks Mike for letting me know. Your collection of doors sounds identical to mine .........

If you could check with your friends for a good drivers door that would be much appreciated.
