Track rod ends

#1 Post by andyborris »

What is the difference between PAS and manual track rod ends (apart from the part number ;D).

Is the thread different or perhaps the taper which fits into the steering arm?

Thanks

A very good question!! They fit 180 degrees to each other in the standard cars, and I think that the thread on the PAS ones are slightly larger, and the physical size is a little bigger. However, I can also recall someone mentioning that a car had one of each on it! Perhaps the relative position of the taper to the threaded section is different. Anyone enlighten us further?

Thanks.

Should add that the taper is .1 mm larger on the manual version and the PAS one is longer by 5 mm.

Info from Elbir Automotive, who make the things!

I'm going for a lie down now, that took some serious Googling!
