I went to stoneleigh looking for V8 2000s and their water systems as mine needs a larger rad in there.
Ive tried the p6 pump but still too long to get my original rad in there. I found a grey mk1 on LPG and took some photos, but he didnt know much about the car as the previous owner had done the work. Does anyone have any more engine fotos of it?

Re: Rover V8 water pump in MkI
the shortist water pump is the p6 its 2.5 inchs shorter than the sdi and 1 inch shorter than the range rover. Have you got the engine as far back as you can? the mk1 and mk 2 engine bays are the same you may have to modify the heater a bit on the mk1. Ive been running v8s in triumphs 2000 for years and had no problems with over heating I run the 54 core pi rad on a 3.5 and then a 4.0 + 4.3
with no problems even towing just stick a pair of diesel fan from a 306 on the front hope this helps

Re: Rover V8 water pump in MkI
Hi, i was chatting with you about this at stoneleigh. The engines rocker cover is butted up to the heater valve, and wont go further back or the bellhousing will hit the tunnel, and the other rocker cover will hit the blower motor.
I have a VW polo 6n radiator in there. when moving on the motorway the temp needle sits just covering the E in temp on the gauge around a 1/4 up, heater works a treat, if it would stay there I'd be happy, but when stationary the temperature will fly up, the fan kicks in and boils within 5minutes.
Ive got the composite gaskets on it now and doesnt seem to have too high a compression.
My friend suggested maybe there isn't enough water in the system, as he has previously had SD1s but they have larger tanks on the radiators and the polo rad holds very little. Due to the nose cone getting a large fan in there isnt really possible.

Did you have the heads skimed down the thickness of the gasgets to keep the compression up to what it should be. You can get the fans in but you must fit them before the rad goes in the polo rad is not big enough the standard 2000 rad can be used if you want more room turn round the mounting plates side to put the rad forword two inches
