rover V8 conversion
rover V8 conversion
Hi
I'm new to the forum "thingy" but here goes.
I'm currently in the process of fitting a Rover V8 into my MK1 2000. The problem is getting it low enough for the SU carbs fitted. Is this an impossibility and should i be looking at the Edelbrook setup
Any pics that could be forwarded would be much appreciated
Chris

Re: rover V8 conversion
Hi Chris,
Welcome to the Forum!
I'm afraid I've never fitted a Rover V8 to a 2000 or seen one (I think!). There is at least one member here with one though.
They were a popular mod to Stags and they had much the same problem. I seem to remember that the MGBV8 had different inet manifolding to overcome this problem, although they are probably like rocking horse droppings these days!
Maybe a check in the Stag environment might get an answer?
Good luck!
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi
Thanks for the input, i did see the manifold in question, and infact found a website that lists every type of manifold ever made for the RV8.
Might have found one that will suit just need to add to the ever increasing list of to do jobs.........Still keeps me out of mischeif but also seems to keep my wallet empty

Re: rover V8 conversion
Mine has Edelbrock manifold with Holley 390 carby and it all fits under the bonnet without cutting etc! Can't tell you much more though, as I didn't do the conversion and am no mechanic.

Re: rover V8 conversion
Many members have a V8 in their Mk2, which has the same available height as a Mk1. I know nothing about V8's but most can not fit SU, because of height. One I looked at had the shallowest SD1 sump, Offenhauser manifold, with Weber 200/500 cfm carb. All making it the lowest possible. Apparently the ex manifiold is one of the more expensive problems, unless your name is Ken who just makes his own.

Re: rover V8 conversion
Just in case anyone fancies doing a v8, I have a good SDI engine and 5 speed box at the back of the garage.
Make an offer before I put it on Ebay! £200ish?
All complete with carbs.
