What did you do with/to your Triumph today?

#1 Post by Alex Spooner »

Saw this on the 'Bimmerforum', seems a good idea. Essentially, what did you do with your 2000/2500 today, be it drive it to the shops, major repair work, race it etc. Ill get the ball rolling. Drove it to work, drove it back, smiled as i got out.

Got the bus to work because I'd left the car there over the weekend whilst I went on a break to London. Drove the car to the local supermarket to get some bits, then drove home in the dark and the rain. Winter! Bah!

Today I hopped in the car to pop down to visit an elderly lady (of 88) who lives a couple of miles away. She thinks it's fun when I arrive at her farm house because of the rorty exhaust.

Yesterday Steph and I went to a Border Fine Arts display and sales thing in Chepstow Racecourse (about 10 miles away). Spent money we could not afford on sheepdog models for our collection :? and one of the guys came out to look at the PI as we roared off. :)

Woke it up and got it out of the garage, it'd been about 3 weeks since the last drive! Went for a drive into town (12km) and picked up some food from the supermarket! Put a wee bit more petrol into it! The guy who served me was telling me how he'd done his mechanics apprenticeship working on Triumphs and Rovers! Later on I took it down to the local car wreckers, the dude running the place was pretty keen on having a look!

I was driving past the wreckers a few days ago and noticed he had a MkI Triumph parked out front for sale! So I went and had a look at it... it's light blue, blue interior, 4 speed, pretty straight apart from a light scrape down one side and isn't too rusty! While I was looking he came out and we started talking about Triumphs/cars... I asked if he had any MkII Triumphs, as I've been meaning to get another drivers sun visor, my one doesn't stay up! He had two MkII Triumphs there, a 2000 and a PI. So I got a visor, it was good having a drive today without it flopping down!

He was telling me about a guy he knows who has a MKI Estate with a Rover V8 in it! I've never seen it around myself though...

Drove it to work and back (but dare I mention it was the Stag?!!). The PI estate is tucked up nice and warm for the Winter and the MK1 only tends to go out at weekends!!
