Alan, I have received the newest copy of Six Appeal magazine recently, and discovered you new project.
Congratulations, it is worth every effort you would put on it  !!

About the Stag engines, I have some troubles with 2 of these : I will soon look for a complete engine for rebuilt, + I need a pair of new heads (are they available ?) and need to find someone to rebuilt these engines.

Can you give me any good advice, tips or adress, thanks ?

Cheers,

Chris.

Thank you....... hard work is yet to come!

New heads are available, the Stag owners club have had new tooling made and are re manufacturing new heads called "millennium heads" but they are VERY expensive.

I don't know much about rebuilding Stag engines, mine is being done for me as a favour by Andy Roberts, so I'm not so sure he will take orders!

Cheers,
Chris.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have found nothing about the "millenium heads" on the Stag owner's club website, and have tried on Google with no more result :?

Any idea ?

Chris.

I think you need to be a member to get access to that bit.

Search for SOCFT (stag owners club tooling fund)

I googled "triumph stag millenium heads" There are some listings there.
Rimmers advertise "Cylinder head rebuild kits"

Alan, I am afraid that you are right, about SOC membership

Tony, I have tried the same search yesterday, but the results were unusefull.

Who is the more recommended Stag engine specialist in England ?

I will let you know if I find the new heads,

Cheers,

Chris.

I would talk to EJ Wards (www.ejward.co.uk) about an engine rebuild.

Bear in mind, done properly you are looking at about £3000, more if you have new heads. To be honest, there are enough heads still around to be able to get better ones if yours are in trouble, but they usually skim up okay with extra thick head gaskets.

Alan, I didn't know, before you talked about them, that extra thick heads gaskets exist for Stag !

It may be THE solution, thanks for the info  !

Cheers,

Chris.

Yes, they are available I think they are called something like "head savers" or "skim savers"........

I;m sure you are aware after a few skims, there is not enough material left and the compression ratio gets too high. Extra thick gaskets solve this.

Talk to Mick @ EJ Wards, top bloke.
