Hi thanks for the advice - unfortunatley I bought it and its fitted . But based on your advice I now carry the old lucas distributor as a sapre - just in case. I hope I've caught you in time. I would give someone like the Distributor Doctor a ring first before you go for one of those enticing 'new' and 'cheap' distributors from BBC. While it would appear to be a no brainer, I had gone down the same road and bought one from BBC. They fit on to the engine and work a treat up until they're just out of warranty, 12 to 18-months or so.
I don't know what part of the world the electrical components come from, but lets just say it's not Japan. I had to buy a second hand genuine Lucas to replace the crap BBC one which failed on me after 18-months.
A false economy methinks...Good luck.
