Not a big deal but the sponge lining of the heater box is disintegrating and pretty gross. I don’t really fancy taking the entire box out. Has anyone experienced this or managed to do something « in-situ ». Is it easy to remove the large lower flap and at least re-line that part?
Thanks for any ideas.

Disintegrating foam is apparently not unusual (not surprising for a 50 year old car). I have given it a good clean and will be replacing what I can get to with self adhesive closed cell foam.

Thanks Iani, I have just done the lower flap which is accessible…the rest I will leave well alone…although I haven’t tested the blower motor yet…
