Colour Change

Hi All, so my 1972 MK2 2000 is currently Honeysuckle, it needs some body work and has even been hand painted in places!
So will do a respray, but should I keep the same colour or change it to another? Will it affect any future resell interest \ price? Is there a desirable colour to have?

If you are going to change the colour, it will need to be completely strip down to the bare shell and repaint inside and out. There is nothing worse than seeing a beautiful big saloon in lovely deep blue or rich red and when the bonnet is opened 'poo brown' colour inside the engine bay :shock:
I have bought cars that have been lovely in the paint department only to discover it wasn't its original colour after removing boot trim etc :roll:
However as always, this is my own opinion and should only be considered as a last resort :lol:

To echo the above. A colour change needs to be done right, which means empty shell time.
For value, original is always best, but then again if it's in a good colour, who actually cares?
Up to you, but if you do change it, do it right!

Keep it original, as Englishbull will testify, Honeysuckle is the best colour by far..... not that Im biased :lol:

Keep it original honeysuckle is a great colour in my top favourite colours along with Ice blue.

Although I am a stickler for originality, if you are restoring a Honeysuckle car to the extent that you are considering a colour change, then I would definately go for it. I would also keep the new colour relative to the age of the car. I wouldn't change the colour on a very original or mint car, irrespective. Honeysuckle may be liked by some, but in a poll of least favourite or attractive Triumph colours then I would argue it will be high in the list!
I personally don't like it at all, although colours are a personal thing.
Just as an aside, I do know of a very beautiful, well admired and award winning Royal Blue Mk2 Triumph, that originally was Sienna Brown. No names mentioned, but he's on the forum and goes to our National where it is admired from afar........!!!
With that in mind, I'd go for it!!!

What's wrong with Honeysuckle? I think it's a nice colour for a big Triumph. If you go for a change do it "good", ie, strip the whole lot and do the complete shell - believe me it's a BIG job!
I've got a Valencia Blue Mk1 and I think it looks great but some people think it's green, some blue and some greeny blue! When I was fitting the doors after a complete shell respray I damaged a bit of the paintwork and I asked the spray guy if he could "blow" the damaged bits in and his exact reply was, "It was a tw@ to match in - in its day and it's no different now" :lol:! Had to have all the externals done again! :oops:
Anyway, my advice would be stick with Honeysuckle but if you go with a colour change stay with a Triumph colour of the year and mark. Definitely don't go metallic! :evil:

I've had both honeysuckle and sienna cars and I know which I preferred - and it wasn't the brown!

Seriously though, changing the colour is a major job if it's to be done right. Just respraying the outside will still leave an awful lot of visible metal the original colour.
