Hello, some update for you.

First attached photo shows vinyl samples from J. Skinner compared to one original piece. "New matador red" seem to be closest (2. sample from bottom). Graining is a bit coarser tan original.

Second photo shows tufted carpet samples from J. Skinner compared to pieces of gearbox tunnel carpet and sill carpet. Hard to say what would be acceptable, if anything. Anyway, original material is denser and it came with soft secondary backing (no latex, no plastic) for rear floor and sill linings.

I also received samples from Newton Commercial. Last attached photos show same material as in "moulded carpet manufacturing" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF2Tb7_uWws. Red surface material seems to be tufted nylon (short tuft) on some stiff "grounding". Obviously that grounding becomes adhesive under heat and pressure and stick on the soft grey fabric shown on photos. This is too rigid stuff for my purposes. (I didn't try heating it.)

I am tempted to think, that all samples this far originate from same factory (mill in UK). I haven't yet decided how to handle the "problem". Anyway, I still try one of my local contacts.

Thanks,
I have original red B-post lover vinyl sections and red parcel shelf & surrounding vinyl sections available. They are quite tatty, and will not clean easily. In addition to that there is quite much of rust marks and glue on the back side of removed vinyl sections.

One reason to replace the B-post sections is that I am going to replace headlining. Before doing so, I already prepared new trims for B-post upper sections from Longhorn fabric (that is same as used for headlining).

Cheers,
JS

Here comes a short update.

When visiting my local car trimmer I found that he had old sample leaflet of carpets from a company called
Münchner autostoff handel GmbH http://mah.de (obviously). For that you need to start learning German language :).

Attached is a very small sample in comparison to my original pieces. This, obviously German carpet, is very near to original, and it has been available as seen in attached photos, and also as reinforced i.e. plastic backed version(!)

Problem is that the company in Munich will communicate only with business owners. Thus, I would need to find an authorised agent for their products. That will be the next target in 2014, because one known agent takes orders only during (rare) visits at trimming shops.

Cheers for coming 2014,

Latest info on the material hunt.

I managed to get sample updates from Münchner Autostoff Handel on their current offering.
362 (640x480).jpg
Colour selection for red tufted carpet, all except the most right one are cut pile.
361 (640x480).jpg
Identification numbers for samples and colour and backing combinations. Backing/surface colour combinations are as given in the photos. Only foam backing on 22 x 103 is optional selection, which means 22 x 103 is also available with similar soft backing as seen by 23 x 318 and 22 x 105. (22 x 108 is with black latex backing, and 23 x 983 loop pile carpet comes with sturdy through looped backing material.)
360 (480x640).jpg
Original carpet between the soft backed MAH options (23 x 318 and 22 x 105).
359 (360x480).jpg
In my opinion, 22 x 105 is very near original Triumph tufted cut pile carpet specification for rear floor and sill wall linings. For rear floor carpet, underfelt would need to be sewn on the back side with help of edge trims. This carpet material could be glued straight to inner sill walls, and where a dense and easily formable short pile carpet is needed.

I might still wait a bit as long as selling agent comes for visit and gives idea of options/suppliers for areas where sturdy carpet backing is needed (front footwell carpets, gearbox area).
