Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
Hi, just wondering if anyone has suggestions on improving the air flow from the heater blower motor fan? I'm open to any suggestions - eg. a replacement fan/ motor etc. As long as it doesn't look too out of place.

Re: Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
The Mk2 fan should be pretty good at moving air but here in the UK it all gets a bit blocked up with dead leaves etc. Will mine do anyway! I've always found it pretty effective to try and clean it all out every so often.
Also in the cold weather the fan bearing screech a bit until it all warms up.
More jobs to do!
I'd be interested on how the aircon idea comes together.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
I'll be pulling the whole heater box out and swapping in the aircon equipped version soon. It was a "factory" option here (from what I understand), but the reality was the heater boxes were actually modified by local companies with the necessary parts installed inside it (plus all the other external engine bay bits.)

Re: Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
Hi David,
I know the Stag was offered with aircon as an option and that had a different heater 'box' with dual fans, one on either side.
The Stag heater is just about the same as a 2000 one but without the rear footwell heater ducts. So the logical thought was that the same/similar Stag unit was used for aircon in a 2000. However, your research suggests that the standard heater boxes were modified locally with other 'standard' parts. It would be very interesting to see what was used and how it was done as I guess that's the route forward you're going to take?
I'd like to do this some time (yet another project for the future!). I have a number of old 2000 heaters so maybe a good look at one on the bench might be called for!
Good luck!
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Improving the heater blower motor/ fan?
I'll post some pics of the modified heater box sometime soon.

The MG boys have a replacement fan for the smiths heater. Same fan unit as the Triumphs. Worth a look.
