Backspace / Frontspace on Mk2 Estate?

#1 Post by Dyna »

Hi

Kind of related to the other wheel thread. We had a set of Scimitar 14" composite Dunlops and they didn't fit under the arches (at least not under our White 2500S estate). So kind of wanted to ask what does fit? I.e. how much frontspacing and backspacing can you have under the arches of a Mk2 Estate at least that allows you to go out and messure what kind of when you can fit under there..

The Scimitar composite wheels are 6x14"? As the ones fitted to MGB V8s are the same to look at but 5 1/2" wide.
Amanda's estate has 6x14" MOMOs on with 195/70/14 and they never touch, what size tyres were you trying the Scimitar alloys with?
The MOMOs are the same depth from mounting face back as the original S alloys, the extra 1/2" is all outwards! S alloys are ET19 I believe, but only 5 1/2" wide.
Ther isn't loads of room under an estate rear arch, but plenty of room inwards, don't forget the mk1s had a narrower rear track but S alloys fit fine on them (just don't do it!)

It's original Scimitar wheels (we got from a Scimitar specialist), Tires are 195/70/14. Hubby will start measuring later today since we are getting a bit puzzled. We hit the arch both front and rear so it wasn't just a rear arch problem.

Hi Folks

Hubby measured and it looks like you have a bit over 3" of front spacing. Scimitars Dunlop composites has about 4-1/2" of front spacing so they will not fit. Kind of a shame since he would really like to have them on our Mk2 Estate.

I have 15x8" front and 15x8.5" rears on my mk2 estate. Offset is around +20 so not sure what that is in terms of front spacing and back spacing

According to hubby calcs that means a backspace of 5(8)-5.5(8.5) which lands you im about 3" of frontspacing. May i ask what wheels it is?
