Chaps - you've all been very helpful, but Colin's knee is the star -many thanks, mate, you've not only made it look right, you've cured the wind noise on that side just about altogether!
Cheers

OK Wizz kids!
The Bootlid has a different curve to the wing. I cannot remember it always being like that. After it was with a garage I noticed this difference. On the RHS edge the boot lid is higher in the middle than near to the hinge and the rear light. I have tried wood, the weight of my backside etc. After a short time the curve still springs back. Any ideas. It is no real problem but just looks grotty.

Hello Peter,

as it's quite a stiff panel it would take some real force to get a permanent cure to the curve and may be to the detriment of the paintwork? One solution, but not quick either, is to fill the wing to that curve and blend it all in and repaint. Another is a replacement boot lid, but again repainting would be likely and there's no gurantee it would fit any better?

Hello Peter,

I can only guess that some how it has been pushed from the rear, i.e some horizontal force against the RH trailing edge. I don't think that an overfull boot would do it as the lid would twist overall rather than bend at that one spot?

Most Mk2 bootlids show this problem, I was always lead to believe it was for exactly the reason that Alec has just said he feels would not do it, an overfull boot and a less careful owner. Certainly my bootlid on the pi is as described and most mk2s exhibit the same.
More likely though taking into account what Alec has said, is that it is something to do with the construction of the lid, either the inner strengthening section or the skin itself.
