Hello Brian,

I'm surprised that Morris oils are not easily found in your area seeing as their headquarters are relatively close to you? It's everywhere around here?

I got a pack of Penrite for the RBRR and, though expensive, seemed to maintain a nicer consistency than my usual Halfords/Comma Classic.

As well as additive packages, I think the API and ACEA tests also include performance of the oil at high temperature etc?

I have heard that SF graded oil is the maximum which should be used in old engines as anything higher has additive packages which don't agree so well with old cars.

It could be my imagination but the 2000 certainly sounds and feels more silky with the new oil.

Most ,if not all brands that you mention are unavailable in NZ .How about Castrol GTX ?
Having read this thread a bit concerned about the oils I'm using. Thanks Tony.

Hi Alec,

I have only found one place where I can buy Morris' oil...surprising as you say as it is made locally!

For anyone in / close to the West Midlands, I'm pretty sure that SNG Barratt of Bridgnorth carry Morris Golden Film 20/50.

After a fair bit of experimentation, I've settled on Penrite HPR30 but again, not always the easiest brand to find outside specialist retailers.
