Le Mans Classic 2010 - anyone going?

#1 Post by Cheesy »

Is anyone heading to the Le Mans Classic this weekend?

We're setting off tomorrow, for a Newhaven-Dieppe crossing on Thursday morning.

We've already managed to fill the boot (and I do mean fill!), the rear footwells, under the front seats, and we haven't even packed any clothes yet!

Yes - I'm going, camping at Tertre Rouge. I'm taking the TR, though as the 2000 deserves a rest after doing nearly 2,000 miles to Scotland and back. Portsmouth - Caen ferry on Thursday afternoon.

Hi Kevin - got back yesterday and just trying to catch up online!

We were also at Tertre Rouge, just near the beer tent! :D

Saw a couple of big Triumphs doing the laps, including a rather nice looking Topaz estate.

Had a brilliant time and managed the 925 miles there and back without incident, even in the extreme heat on the French side!

I saw "Horatio" parked up by the beer tent, but didn't see you. Spent all my time either in the Village or at the edge of the track watching cars go by. Got my TR there and back in one piece, even with the extreme heat.

Hi guys,
I also made it down and back (735 miles) in my Valencia Blue Mk1. Didn't miss a beat there and back but glad I flushed out the cooling system, replaced hoses and thermostat before setting off!! Meant I didn't need to have the heater on so full to draw heat away from engine so much in the 34 deg heat. Time for a webasto sunroof I think! Parked near beer tent alongside Colin Wake's 2.5 PI for most of the weekend. Returned reasonable mpg and for an auto I was pleasantly surprised. :D

I saw a couple of Mk1s near the beer tent, I presume one of them was yours? There was also a light blue (Wedgwood?) one.

I kept meaning to come over to say hello but then the beer tent kept getting in the way! Glad you made it there and back without any glitches.

I had the pleasure to see the Mk2 estate and a blue Mk1 aswell during the track laps :P
I made it in my TR2, a friend of mine was driving my 2500 PI Mk2 (white, LHD) for these laps.
