G'day from Perth!

Hello everyone!

My name is Joe, and i live in Perth, Western Australia. I moved here from Cambridge, UK, about 4 years ago.

3 years ago I met my current girlfriend and subsequently acquired her 1977 2500TC! She bought the car when she was 18 as her first car while she was taking driving lessons, but before she took her test, the car overheated with her friend driving it. Rather than pulling over she kept going, causing the radiator to blow! After that it sat, unloved, outside her house under a (slowly rotting) car cover for 5 years. When I met her she told me I could have it as long as I fixed it and got it going again. I was in the market for a classic car (I actually wanted a Mercedes 250ce coupe!) so thought why not.

The car has a fair bit of history, the previous owner (an elderly man who had the car from new), kept a record of everytime he took it out, how far he went, how much fuel was put in, even did his own MPG calculations! I thought it was a bit of a shame to let a car that was once loved so much disappear off the roads, so decided to take the plunge. In the end the car has had a new block and head (the old one was seized solid), new brakes (lines, pads etc), carbs rebuilt, re-cored radiator, vicious coupling etc etc.

Anyway, I thought i'd sign up for some help and advice, this is my first classic car and having only previously owned mid 90's japanese and german hatchbacks, is a bit different to what i'm used to!

P.s. does anyone know what colour it is? The badge in the engine bay comes back as mimosa but all the mimosa cars i've seen are a lot brighter than mine...

Looks nice Joe. We don't know how lucky we are in this part of the world. No salt on our roads to bugger up our cars. :D

G'day Joe,

Welcome to the forum.

Also moved over from the motherland 4 years ago (Brighton), am now based in Adelaide with a far less pretty 2500 than yours (but it can only get better).

Hope you enjoy ownership, looking forward to any updates.

Russell
