MK 1 Rear suspension
Would like to convert my MK 1 back to MK 1 trailing arms, anyone got the bits to sell or swap for MK2 parts?

Just out of my morbid curiousity for triumphs, Im trying to figure out what the difference between mk1 and mk2 trailing arms are? Thanks Kyle.

The flange that the driveshaft attaches to is thicker — I think that's about it.
I am planning to do the same as Andy and convert back to Mk1.

I think between us we're going to push the price of MK1 rear arms up!
I've got a set of deep dish steels (14inch) to go on, guess you want to fit big, fat tyres?

I've actually already got the arms 
The clearance between tyres and the arches is minimal and I want to use some camber correcting mounts because I am tired of wearing out the insides of the tyres — so I need the space.

I always thought that the Mk2 track was a bit wider - a couple of inches perhaps. I know one bit of the driveshaft (outer probably) is longer and the 'boss' on the swing arm where the brake backplate bolts to is longer on the Mk2.
A few years ago, CW used to sell a 'kit' to convert from Mk1 to Mk2. If only you could find the discarded bits.....

I thought that was the case. I remember CW's advert when he showed 'before' and 'after' photos of a Mk1 rear. However, it was some time ago and the memory sure fades these days!

The mk1 track width is narrower than the mk2 by at least a couple of inches, as I discovered about 30 yrs ago when I swapped an outer driveshaft from a mk1 onto my mk2 PI, and found that the driveshaft splines only mated for about threequarters of an inch !
The swinging arms and the outer driveshafts are different on each model, everthing else is the same

Hello Dave,
there is one other difference, the handbrake cable on the MK 2 is longer to allow for the longer track. I forget now if it is the first or second one, but would guess the second one?
