Another question from down under to the folks who are always so helpful.

I am fitting a towbar onto the 2500TC that I picked up from the local wreckers - they stated that it was definitely off of a triumph sedan.

The issue I have is that whilst the two holes on the end of the heavy bar line up perfectly with the bumper bolts, there is also a stabiliser bar that sits underneath the boot. No problems so far, except that there is a large round plate that sits in roughly where the stabiliser bar sits, & no holes matching the stabiliser bar.

Is it standard practice to drill new holes for the stabiliser, or might they have given me a towbar for an estate, or even a mark one.

hi i have fitted both estate and saloon tow bars and the under boot stabilisers are very different so it wouldnt even meet the boot floor if you had the wrong ones. on the ones ive fitted i just drilled holes up through the boot floor where the two stabiliser bar holes end up then on the inside of the boot floor spread the load with a heavy gauge piece of steel bar. angle iron would do. with two matching holes drilled in for the bolts to pass through two washers and nuts job done !! hope this helps

Estate and Mk 1 tow bar stabilisers are long and bolt through the floor in the centre of the boot. Mk2 saloon towbars have a short (usually 2 ) stabiliser which bolts through the floor just forward of the inner vertical skin at the rear of the boot floor. You will need to drill the holes and use a spreader bar on the inside. angle is ideal for this. Good luck

Thanks for that info, will install as instructed. My main worry was whether to drill or not to drill, that indeed was the question, and has been answered comprehensively as always.
