Will TR6 steels fit a mk 2 2500tc? What tyres would be needed?
Also has anyone ever tried putting Saab 900 seats in a 2500...they seem narrow enough

Hang on in there. There are a few on here who have fitted TR6 wheels to a saloon, so it must be possible. I'm sure they will reply soon.

Hi... yes I have TR6 steels (15 x 5J5) on mine.. If its a Mk2 the clearance at the back starts getting a bit tight above a 185 tyre. MK1 have a narrower track so wider tyres are possible.
I run 185 x 65 x 15 which give an increase in rolling radius of about 1% over the standard 175 x 80 x 13's. With these on at standard ride height, you get about 5mm clearance either side between the tyre and the arch.
Alternatively I guess its possible to fit the narrower track Mk1 trailing arms and half shafts (correct me if i'm wrong here guys), to give some extra clearance. I know of at least one Mk1 running 15 x 7's (Genuine Minilites). Have to say it looks very good!

I had tr6 steels on my mk2 they were fine with just me in the car but loaded up they touched the arch bowl.
I now have them fitted on my mk1.
mine have 195 60 15's fitted.

I know of a Mk1 with a Mk2 rear sub-frame that has TR6 wheels which were once on a Mk2... however, these have been modified in some way to fit. Not sure how exactly, though, something to do with reversing the centre. They look good. I like the TR6 wheels.

In simple nuts-and-bolts terms, yes, I think retro-fitting a Mk2 with Mk1 rear suspension would be possible. Dynamically, however, I wouldn't countenance it for a normal road car. As originally supplied, the handling properties of the Mk1 and Mk2 are perceptibly different (perhaps due to the Mk2's increased length and greater weight outside the wheelbase?), and I'd be rather concerned that with the narrower rear track, there might be a tendency to develop excessive positive camber under cornering. Others on this Forum with wider experience of uprated suspension set-ups can probably offer greater wisdom on this point.
Re wider wheels on Mk2s, I think that there are a number of parameters determining what will and what won't fit, e.g rim width, offset, tyre profile, ride height, precise positioning of the rear subframe and even the degree to which the rear wheelarch lips are turned-in from car to car. I've known of a couple of cases where people have encountered rear wheelarch clearance difficulties with wider wheel-and-tyre combinations on Mk2s, only to see the same set-up work OK on another similar car. Once again, others can probably offer better practical advice - me, I just chickened out and fitted 185/70-14s on Stag alloys...
And, by the way, your TR6 wheels do look good...

I also looked at some nice leather BMW 3 series seats ... no go.
The Triumph seems to have a remarkably wide tunnel to me - look at the way the seat base tapers. I suppose it might be possible to 'adjust' the tunnel and inner sill.
Instead I opted (begrudgingly) for MX-5 seats that were modified to attach to the saloon rails and maintain seat height exactly. I thought they'd be a bit 'pony' in a saloon, but they've worked out really well. They make the car a lot less cramped, give much more legroom in the back and are much more comfortable in a saloon than in a GT6 for example.
