Clips for Trim above Doors

#1 Post by tr250 »

Hi,

I have an annoying rattle on a rear door and a piece of trim (above rear quarter light) that has come off. Well I took it off before it flew off never to be seen again. I'm having difficulty finding the clips on the Rimmer site. I believe the correct clip is 615967 according to my parts book, but they don't show it available AND they show you need only 10 to complete a car. I suspect they may have the part number wrong? Do any of you know the correct part number(seems like it would be the same for both pieces) for the clips that hold the stainless trim above the door & above the rear quarter light and where I can get them?

Cheers,

Hello Todd,

I'm not sure which bit of trim you mean. If it is the piece on the trailing edge of the quarter light then it is the same clip as above the door trim. The part numbers (I have two in my Leyland parts book are :- 615967, as you said and 631282, both fixed with rivet 557922. The latter is a pop rivet, (5\32" dia from memory?)
By the way the online Rimmer site does not list every part they sell, so an E-mail query may help? If that is not productive there are a few more options avilable over here, so let us know how you get on. Being so small, airmail will be practical.

I bought some from fitchetts 01952 619585 the other week. Its a bastard to get the trim on, and thats the only one Ive not managed to get on yet. Need 6 hands, but I found the best way is with 2 people, on holding, pushing the big edge under the clip (pushing upwards and to the right on that one) and giving the trim a good few taps where the clips are

Yep, those are the clips I need and YES, that's the trim piece that I need to install as well as the trim piece at the top of the rear door...just in front of the quarter light trim.

I'll give them a ring this week!

Cheers,

Todd
