I bought some parts from him in about 1997, which I believe was after he'd wound down the business and moved out of the Andover warehouse. At his request I drove down to Bedford or thereabouts where parts and money changed hands in a pub car park!
Many thanks for this information David. I have managed to get Richard's e-mail and have sent him a message - sounds like he could be a useful contact to have for everyone's benefit if he has much stock as he appeared to have at the National.

Richard was buying quite a lot of stuff from us back in the 80's.
From memory we were making jacking points, and sill strengtheners amongst other panels for him.
I also remember him buying a large cargo crate of shadow blue firflex from us. Some time later we needed some for a customers car, but Richard had closed up by that stage.

Did he ever sell his new MKII bodyshell?
Boom!
If he hasn't, then it must be his pension...
Something sticks in my mind that it was water damaged?

When Triplex 'Sundym' glass was first introduced it was quite a big thing and manufacturers who used Triplex were quick to add it to the options list...
Was this glass standard on some models though and optional on others?!
Also, with regards to dealer options does anyone out there have anything relating to this kind of thing in their cars 'history' if it came with anything (documents etc...) when purchased?! If you have an original bill of sale it may shed some light on options fitted...
I believe that 'Sundym' was standard on the 'S' range and optional on others. I have a 1973 PI which has it on all the glass...
Cheers,
Mike.

I wish my Toledo had Sundym, people seem to forget how hot cars got inside prior to tinted glass being the norm...!!!!!!
Back to options though, would it be fair to say that dealer fitted options were more common than factory fitted options?! I only say this as it appears from what has been said that a car was made with everything deemed necessary being fitted already!
Maybe that's how things should be these days, it'd make things a heck of a load simpler!!!

A simple task of obtaining some Dolomite sundym glass and swapping it over surely!
A local breakers in Doncaster has a 1500HL with tints in for breaking right now.

I'd love to do a glass swap but it's just a bit too much trouble than it's worth...!!!
Oh well, I'll just have to enjoy the greenhouse effect...
Did any 2000's get fitted (by the factory or the dealer) with a metal tilt/slide sunroof be it electric or manual?! I know some Rover P6's had them but they were very expensive indeed...
