Many years ago we sold Richard at Classic Components at least a dozen passenger NOS black leather late MKI seats. He also bought our entire stock of early MKII half cloth red NOS seats as well. We were very happy to liberate the space they were taking up!

Last time I spoke to Richard he admitted that he had only sold a couple of each, and that the remainder had gone into storage somewhere after he closed his business. I know it was a few years ago but perhaps he might be worth tracking down.
What do I know?

Anyone know how I can contact Richard at Classic Components please?

Dave advises me that he was based near Andover but the company based there does not appear to exist any more.

Thanks

If you have a look at the "Welcome to New Members" bit in the October Six Appeal (pg30), you will see a reference to a rejoining member whose name is the same - I think- as that of Classic Components' Richard.

Don't know whether it is one and the same or merely a co-incidence, but perhaps worth trying the Register's Membership Secretary to see if a message can be relayed on your behalf?

Regards,

Jonathan

Richard was at the national this year - complete with calling cards. I might have taken one and I'll have a look, but I'm sure others did too.

I think he's had a rough time of late but it was good to see him again.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks for that info Mike and Jonathan - I may very well have had a few words with him at the National then and did not realise ...... damn.

If you can find that card, or if anyone else had one, I would be grateful for the info.

I really miss Richard. His place in Andover was within walking distance for me when he was trading and he always went above and beyond. I remember once him helping me fit the fuel tank he'd sold me into my first 2000 even after it started to pour with rain. When I got my current car in 1994 I went round to his to show it off but it was clear that nobody had been there for a while but he was at the last National I went to which was the one in Yorkshire.

If anyone does manage to track him down, it would be great if you could pass his details on...

He was over on one side opposite where Andy Harrison (?) was with his great selection of spares. I'm sure he had some calling cards there too.

We used him for some bits - and visited his warehouse - back in the 90s when I was rebuilding the brown 'S' estate we had. He was very helpful then, giving advice and thoughts on how to do things. His warehouse with its stock was something else to see! I particularly remember his new old-stock brake discs - at £5 each! You know what they say, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Cheers,
Mike.

It was Symonds (I think that's the right spelling). I bought some parts from him in about 1997, which I believe was after he'd wound down the business and moved out of the Andover warehouse. At his request I drove down to Bedford or thereabouts where parts and money changed hands in a pub car park!
