I appreciate you pointing this one out Spider but I did have a look at it on ebay.

The pictures are cr*p and dark but from what I can see the bottom of the carcase where the skin crimps over does not look at all good. This is the part that is important especially if you ever do a reskin. For the money I would expect better.

There is another blue one in Leicester where this part is better but the rail that the seal goes in to on the bottom has gone. I have not found any of these channels for sale so that is a problem. Also collection/delivery from Leicester makes it expensive.

Let's see what Mike can come up with if anything.

See 'General Discussion' about the door in Leicester.

If you're talking about the channel section welded to the door pressing, I think that the basic section is the same as that used on TR4(?) sills and door posts, so perhaps still available; certainly was when I did mine in the mid-noughties, though only in straight lengths, so perhaps a problem if you need to replace any of the curved sections... :(

It wasn't too long ago that CW sold that seal retainer....

Thanks for the pointer Jonathan, and Mike I did look on CWs site but could not see anything.

I'll e-mail CW just in case but I did check one of my kna**ered doors which had been vandalised, and though the door was distorted and NBG ........ this seal retainer looks just useable. If no luck with Mike's CW or Jonathan's TR idea I'll resort to that unless another new one turns up from somewhere else.

By the way Mike (mikeybish) very many thanks for your efforts over the door but I have managed to source what I needed - on Fleabay :? Needed a single one for the estate (hence my request) but when I checked I realised that I needed a full set for the Mk1 saloon as well ....... .

After having looked for a month or more and nothing that was listed was worth the money (all were suspect on skin and door carcase), just after making my request a complete set popped up at a sensible price so I grabbed them - and a Landcrab friend collected them yesterday and confirmed they were in excellent condition. Then after following Spider's link for a white door I decided to bid on the blue door with the dodgy seal rail and hope that one will do. Unless of course any kind person does have a good door needing no work - but perhaps I should leave that for someone else in need!

My Landcrab friend has offered to take the set to Andy in Norwich. And I'll see if I can work with Lee to get the blue one to me by courier or something so I can sort it out first before sending on.

Thanks all who have helped.

Ted,

CW3927. Seems to be the welded-on seal retainer. Unless I'm missing the point yet again. Who are you? Who am I? And more to the point as I'm at work, "Why am I here?".

Cheers,
Mike.
