Good things come to those who wait. '66 MkI progress.

This is my MkI 2000 I got in 2006, looks pretty sweet no?

Couple of weeks after this photo was taken the doors wouldnt open, as the sills were that rotten the gap at the top of the frame had closed. And so it began, full resto, of the "just a winter run around" I fell for.

Im not one for doing things by half measures or cutting corners. So I got the only body man I trust who will do a job properly or not at all. No pissing around cutting corners. New sills (which he had in his loft since 84 (2 years before I was born!!!!)), inners, new front wings, inner arch repair panels, rear wing repair panels and inner arch repair panels. Shiney new metal, nom nom nom!

Insides of the sills and inners were painted to stop rust starting again leaving room for clean welding of course. The inner shell and arch the wing covers was all painted.

With the head lamp bowls out and new wings on, in went the spray gun for some etch priming to keep the rust away.

Best front doors I could find anywhere in 3 months were Mk2s, the old ones were rotten to high hell, these just had a couple of pin holes.

mmmmmm, clean fresh welds, painted then brushed with a bit of bondasealer to keep the evil water away!

The insides of the rear wings do not escape the painting or waxoyling either!

Nothing heavy, just nip over to holland for their tulip nightrallys. Tis a larf

None too bright me, spend silly moneys and years doing up a car, to USE IT??!?!

Better than sitting in a museum looking shiny, preffer it sideways, with plumes of smoke pouring from the rear arches and chucking gravel at the local wildlife!
