Hello John,

Do you have vibration also as that is common when drive shaft ujs fail.

Not too difficult to replace, particularly if you have replaced prop shaft ujs?
You'll ideally need some circlip pliers and a vice to press out and in the bearing cups.
Ensure that when refitting the drive shaft that the bearing housing is not overtightened on the trailing arm, as you risk pulling the studs out.
From memory only 15 lbsft torque is required.

If you have never done this before I would suggest finding a YouTube video to get an idea of the uj repair procedure.

The last time I had a problem with a drive shaft uj, it was on my Stag, which had uj's that were 'peened' over rather than having circlips. I don't know why it had this type of uj on the drive shafts (it's the only Triumph I've ever owned with this type), but as a result I ended up having to change the complete drive shaft and hub.

I'm certain my 1977 2000 T C has peened type. Has anyone else got this type on theirs?

I thought it was only the Stag that had Peened in U/J's. To check beforehand, jack the backend up and check the inner U/J by the diff, to see if it has a circlip. Unless it has been 'tampered with both U/J's on the same half shaft should be the same style.
