Channel Steel Weld on, Retaining Door Seal
Channel Steel Weld on, Retaining Door Seal
How do people fix these door channels to the doors?

Re: Channel Steel Weld on, Retaining Door Seal
Hello Richard,
I have brazed these on when I replace them, but I expect few have an oxy/acetylene set as I have.
It is very thin section steel so using a mig would be very difficult I would think?
An alternative would be pop rivets, stainless being a better option than the usual aluminium. Due to its section the standard pop rivet gun will not go into the channel. In such circumstances I use a very short piece of brake line as a spacer. It is a bit fiddly but effective. Another way would be with self tapping screws?

Re: Channel Steel Weld on, Retaining Door Seal
Hi Alec, thanks for the input.
I fitted them by plug welding through the door frame (where I had drilled the spots out). a few mig welds were added to the sides to secure the channel.
No I don't have oxy, I do have a spot welder but this would only have really worked with new metal in the frame.
