WANTED: Estate side window trim

#1 Post by rhalkyard »

I'm looking for the stainless steel trim piece that goes around the right rear side window on the estates (see the attached annotated photo - not my car). If anybody has this piece lying around, or is breaking an estate, please let me know!

I'm based in the US, but I have contacts in the UK who can handle forwarding it on to me, or I'll be in the South East England area in May anyway, so could pick it up then.

Many thanks!

I broke a late estate several years ago, and I don't throw anything away (!!!) unless it's knackered, so there's a good chance I may have one. I will check tomorrow and let you know. If I have one, then the fun will start in how to get it to you (even via the South East of the U.K!) :D

Just a thought.....early cars had rounded ends to these trims, both on the doors and back window, whereas later cars had open ends with a black plastic insert to finish it off. Which do you need - I presuming from your car details that you need the early one???

Hmm. Wasn't aware that there was a difference. The car is currently in a shipping container on its way to the US, so I can't be certain, but zooming in on some photos that I have of it, they do look to be the rounded-end type.

On the other hand, mine is by no means a concours car, and that piece is currently missing completely (I'm told it fell off!). If you only have the later type, I think that it'd look better with the wrong window trim piece than with none at all.

Unfortunately, I am struggling to find the trims at this moment in time - if anyone else has some then I would suggest having those, but if I do find them I will get back in touch.

I certainly have a pair of these hanging in the garage. They are the later type though, with the black plastic end piece...

Cheers,
Mike.

Wow, thanks to all of you!

Folkestone is well within range of our travel plans, so Charles, I think I might take you up on that offer! I'll send you a private message with my e-mail address; drop me a line and we can work things out from there.
