Re: Mk2 Facelift PI 1975 HFG 610 N
Hello Jim
It's running a TR 5 cam. The engine has been designed to rev to 6500 rpm on PI. At the moment the engine is still new but run in. It starts to feather out at 5000 rpm but when I pull the choke out at that she powers back up. It will be going for a rolling road session before we start competing to get the MU set up.

Having seen and heard Lee's car last Sunday I can vouch for the sound but I am yet to hitch a ride

Cheers Lee - sounds like you've got a real beast on your hands! I'm looking to eventually give my PI a little more performance, without losing smoothness...

Jim,
The key to a good, smooth and powerful PI engine is to get all the units matched. Specifically the cam/metering unit/head works/exhaust/dizzy.
If you go for the 219016 (2500S head) with a 65" thou skim, a TR5 cam and a decent exhaust then you must get the metering unit recalibrated to suit.
Talk to Prestige Fuel, tell them your engine spec and they can build you a metering unit to match.

Yes Alan, I appreciate everything needs to be matched
It would be nice to have a mass flow meter and a fuelling/ignition ecu to map instead, but I'll be keeping the Lucas system
Anyhow, back to admiring Lee's car for the time being!

Re: Mk2 Facelift PI 1975 HFG 610 N
I have just had my throttle bodies rebuilt by Neil Ferguson - an ex-Lucas PI system guy. Many on the Forum have used him and recommended him, and he is well spoken of in TR Register circles.
He did a superb job and much less than Prestige, especially as he had to built an original spec. linkage system (I had an underslung Prestige one which was a pain ...... burnt knuckles....) and rebuilt back to correct TR5 type spec from his own spares stock and some 'rusty bits of metal' from Colin Radford (his description
). I set him an extra challenge because I insisted on all plating back to original 1969 spec including blackened injectors. See pic.
He has everything to set MUs etc. up to an individual's requirements and he will be getting any future work from me - not just because his workmanship is excellent and knowledge/experience first class ..... but his prices are as well!

Just some pictures we took of my car in action at Blyton race circuit yesterday. The car handled quite well for its first outing and test. The geometry will be looked at first. there was quite a bit of understear and a lot of arse wiggle after a bend. Spline lock on the drive shafts so uprated shafts and hubs will sort out that. Engine reved fine and pulled well but Fuel stavation at 5000 Rpm so a tweek to the MU is required. Front offside tyre has gone due to the set up and left handed circuit. Mintex 1155 pads down to 1/3 left from new.
