I've fitted Pertronix units to both my TC and Spitfire.Vast improvement to both and so far very reliable. Found it cheaper though to get direct from the States.

Try "simon bbc" on E bay,around £25---does away with points and condensor,10 minute fit.I've fitted a few-good stuff-no external differences 'cept 2 wires out of dizzy instead of one.good luck!!!! Bill
Also,the red rotor arm is a no brainer--fit and forget!!!.

I would be careful with the simonbbc kits. I ordered one after emailing to make sure it would work on my 2500S. it has the 45D6 not the 25D6 as earlier cars.

I was told it would work....... it came in the post and the packaging had been opened and poorly resealed...

Tried fitting the magnet onto the dizzy shaft, which took a lot of effort, as the hole was slightly too small.....

I fitted it as per the instructions and no matter what I did I could not get the car to fire....

after an hour of failed attempts I put some new points on (aftermarket not NOS)

it fired first turn of the key.......


I threw the SimonBBC kit in the bin, at least it was only £25

As with most things, you get what you pay for. I bought the cheap and cheerful set up from ebay, and no matter what, the car wouldn't run properly. Aldon ignitor it is then

I have a system fitted to both Triumphs manufactured and supplied by Jolley Engineering of Malvern, Worcs.
Everything fits under the dist. cap, the only giveaway is two wires leading from the distributor instead of one. Paired up with a 'red' rotor arm, I cannot praise it highly enough, especially on the 2500. It starts instantly, dispense with choke straight away, it pulls like a train and is excellent on fuel (over 35 mpg to the Dorset National and back, albeit mostly motorway and it is high geared, 3.45 diff, o/d on 2,3 and 4 and 15" wheels.
Both cars have been fitted with this system for about 4 years now with no problems or adjustments whatsoever, they get my vote every time
