Which Propshaft

#1 Post by mauvstag38 »

Help Please,
I wish to replace the propshaft on my 1971 mk2 2000 Auto with a new one from C. Witor.
Which one should I need BW35 or BW65 and what is the difference if any.
Thanks George.

Almost certainly a BW35, unless the car has had a later gearbox fitted at some point in its life (unlikely, I'd have thought). I'm pretty sure that the differences are that at the gearbox end, the BW35 has a splined connection to the gearbox and a BW65 has a circular plate with nuts and bolts (can't think what the proper name for one of these is). There will be an expert along at any moment to confirm.

Not an expert Kevin, just me! I'm guessing the word you search for is an output flange, similar to that on a manual transmission.

FLANGE! That's the word I couldn't think of.. Thanks... :D

99% sure a BW65 prop shaft has a flange at the gearbox end and a BW35 one has a spline
