Another early MK1 2000 brought back to the road.

#1 Post by twomanytriumphs »

Hi all,

Just thought I would post an update on "Bessie" my 66 mk1 2000. Got the car running a week or so ago, and had trouble last friday with the car running on only the front carb. After removing the rear carb several times to clean debris out of the float bowl, we got the car to run actually pretty well. Looking forward to dropping the wheels off in the morning to get new tires installed, then hoping for an alignment in the afternoon. I realized that I have had this car for 4 years now, and a trip around the block will exceed my previous mileage by most of that block.

Thanks Guys.

True to form, the car has tried to show who is the boss.... My friend Bob came over and helped wire the overdrive, and then we got the car onto the ground, and I drove it around the block. It made it all the way around!!!! Took the car to get a 4 wheel alignment, and ended up walking 3 blocks back to the house to get some end wrenches and the spare generator from my TR4 as the original seemed to seize the bearing. Got the car back to the house called the alignment shop, and made it down there about 30 minutes late. At the end of the evening I have 20 miles on the car, and it seems like it will be a joy to drive. I will get some pictures to Lee in the next few days of the before and after of the car.

Thanks again.

Hi all,
I think I figured out how to resize pictures for the website. So I have attached pictures of my 2000 which I am looking forward to driving a touch more this year.
