I hope he succeeds for you Nigel. Have a good show next week, let's hope the rain keeps away for you.

We took the Stag and Land Rover to a show at Wallingford in May.
Much interest was shown in both -

Ah yes it might seem excessive - but my logical thinking is - a) it will save me the pain, b) it leaves me free to do other jobs without thinking about that one  and if he does not do it, no deal, no outlay. Just means i have to have another go  . We did kind of skip it today - weather was just right for a drive... so we did just that instead!!!

Thank you Mike. Thats a cracking looking Landrover, you must be very proud to own such an early model. How long have you owned it? I keep kicking my own self for realising i have now owed my Estate for 18 years - the longest car ownership ever for me !!!!! Never know - one day i may even feel brave enough to leave my home county and attend a National !!!!!!!

18 years Nige - nah, that's not enough by any stretch!
At Tatton Park Classic Car show yeeterday, one of our members was in his lovely Damson Mk2 2.5PI which he has owned for 40 years....

And I have also owned my Royal Blue Mk1 2000 for 40 years - bought at the side of the road near me for exactly £324 - couldn't find the extra £1 fir the asking price, but the seller at the house let me off!

Oh i realise many of the members have owned theirs way longer than 18 years - i was just mentioning the fact that i have only recently ' remembered just how long i've owned mine - a personal best  . There is obviously something about it as to why i persevere with it !!!!!!
We are actually looking forward to this event this weekend as it is not technically a vehicle show - it is an antiques and collectors fair, with traders coming from as far as bonnie Scotland - but the organisers are happy for people with classics to join in with their vehicles, to add to the ' bygone era' theme, at no charge, just to add a mix to the theme, and as the guy stated when i rang, 'without you guys and the stall holders, there is no show' - hence the encouragement, and no fee. So i am kind of hoping all the vehicles on show will be of a certain age should i say, not that i dislike post 80's vehicles, i just prefer the older variety - things you just do not see anymore.
And a couple of cracking cars too - and what a bargain price for the Mk1 !!!!

An inflation calculator for £324 in 1984 equates to around £1022 in today's money :D so yes, definately a bargain - especially considering it's all the original metalwork and there's no 'rot' on it!!

I originally bought the Land Rover back in 1975, so nearly 50 years! The Stag came into my ownership in 1987 (or 1988) so that's ~37 years...

Thinking about it, I bought my 1st Triumph - a 1967 gunmetal Mk1 2000 in September 1974, so just coming up to 50 years ago. Sadly, it's now probably many razor blades.

Cheers,
Mike.
