Re: Mk1 2000 - wrong needles?

Thanks a lot! Interestingly enough, the reason I set about the carb rebuild in the first place was the fact that it was running rich at idle, but far too lean at speed. The needles were visibly worn, though, and a fresh pair of 6J needles, and replacement throttle shafts, have made a night-and-day ...

Mk1 2000 - wrong needles?

I was rebuilding the carbs on my Mk1 Estate, and noticed that they had 6Q needles in them, rather than the 6J that every source I can find specifies. Could anyone enlighten me on the difference between 6Q and 6J, and whether there would be any reason to use the 6Q rather than the recommended needle ...

Re: Overdrive column switch - parts interchange?

All good data points, thanks a lot everybody.

I've been talking to a few TR owners here in the US, and it seems that LHD TRs with the column-mounted overdrive switch had it on the left, with down for on. Thus it stands to reason that mounting such a switch in my car will give the original up for on ...

Re: Overdrive column switch - parts interchange?

Thanks again for the help, Ted. Unless the correct one shows up (and you're more than welcome to take up johnnydog's offer ahead of me), I don't think having it work 'backwards' will be the end of the world for me. Better that than have it dropping out every time I go over a bump – with the state of ...

Overdrive column switch - parts interchange?

The overdrive column switch on my Mk1 is very touchy – it will only engage if moved in just the right way, and often disengages going over bumps and the like.

I'm based in the US, and I've noticed that the usual suppliers (Moss Motors et al.) have a column switch for the TR4 that looks very similar ...

Wow, thanks to all of you!

Folkestone is well within range of our travel plans, so Charles, I think I might take you up on that offer! I'll send you a private message with my e-mail address; drop me a line and we can work things out from there.

Re: WANTED: Estate side window trim

Hmm. Wasn't aware that there was a difference. The car is currently in a shipping container on its way to the US, so I can't be certain, but zooming in on some photos that I have of it, they do look to be the rounded-end type.

On the other hand, mine is by no means a concours car, and that piece is ...
