$%£&!!! ignition lock! Mk2

oioi
My 2000 has an intermittent ignition lock problem - sometimes the key won't turn - sometimes it will. There does not seem to be anything that initiates this - it just happens sometimes. With both keys.

The lock is quite 'loose' in its roundel and I suspect is worn.

Is this a common fault, has ...

Re: Mk2 centre console cover

spoke to woolies -

plan is to get some millboard and some new clips and to replace the panel with OEM spec trim. This will be good practice because I want to try the same with the door cards soon.

They have just started stocking some semi-rigid window channel rubbers - my drivers window runners ...

Mk2 centre console cover

Any ideas on how to secure my centre console cover - the soft black square that sits around the gearstick gaiter - my one is completely knackered and lifts everytime I select reverse.

The board backing has disintegrated where it meets the trim clips I am thinking about replacing the board for a new ...

Re: Molybdenum and the Wailing Diff

If the diff whines, its because its buggered. Fix it, or get another one!

yes, but the idea is to shut it up a wee bit whilst I re build the 2500 diff I bought on ebay last week! not looking for snake oil - just a stop gap - the car is my daily driver afterall.

Thanks Murcon - I'll check out ...

Molybdenum and the Wailing Diff

No, it's not the title of a 1950's Bodice Ripper.

Like many Triumph owners my diff is flippin noisy. Now I was staying at Killin the other week and was doing some work on the car when this old giffer stopped for a chat. He'd had a couple of Stags, a TR6 and a 2000 in the past and he said that what ...

Re: The "modernising" trend

I for one struggle to understand the 'modernising' trend. I can see why it happens though. Speaking as someone who runs both modern and classic or older vehicles I have a lot of experience in mechanical repairs from 1950s technology through to modern TDCis.

Apart from the obvious advantages of ...

Re: New member - Edinburgh '74 2000

lol - no I don't

I used to have an ancient Vespa in the late 90's when I lived in London.

It's been my 'car forum username' for many years now - I have owned a number of vehicles over the last ten years in my quest for a toy and have owned:

Reliant Scimitar GTE
Triumph Dolly 1875
Daf 44 (x2)
Daf ...

Broquet fuel catalyst

I've never been convinced about the benefits of adding one of these to any car - I certainly wouldn't fit one to a modern car. However, two classic vehicles I have owned have had them fitted by previous owners - my late 1974 Leyland Sherpa Autosleeper and my new 2000 Mk2.

The engine in the ...

Re: head liner and quarter window rubber.

I fitted new seals to my old Citroen CX after being horrified at the price of the aftermarket ones -

I can recommend these guys:

if you send them a sample they will match it with a modern equivalent.

My seals are very hard now and need ...
