Visit to Southampton Air Museum

6:30 pmto9:00 pm

The Wessex group of the TR Register, which invites all 2000 Register members to all its events, has arranged a visit to the Southampton Aircraft Museum, known as Solent Sky. The museum will open exclusively for our party on the evening of April 27th at a cost of £300. To make this viable and keep the cost at £10 per head maximum we will need at least 30 people otherwise it starts to get expensive.

I would like to invite you to join Wessex members in visiting the museum. Please remember this is an evening visit and so people should be able to get to Southampton for 6.30 to 7pm ish in order to allow sufficient time in the museum. Exact timings and details will be confirmed in due course, and I will require a deposit of £5.

The small geographical area of Southampton and The Solent was arguably the most important area in the world for aircraft development and experimental work, and also for civil and military aircraft operation. The Museum tells the story of 26 aircraft companies, the largest flying boat operation in the world, and in particular the legendary Spitfire designed at Supermarine by R.J.Mitchell in the heart of the City of Southampton, and built up the road at Eastleigh, now Southampton Airport. So, the museum is well worth a visit.

Further info can be found on the museum web site:

Please contact me for more details (my details are in SIXappeal). I would have put something in SIXappeal, but we didn’t get the date confirmed until after the print deadline.
