I’ve finally settled on the system I’m going to use to build the Triumph 2000 2500 2.5 Website: This one (WordPress). A bit of a cop-out really. I tried a number of CMS packages, including Joomla!, Drupal, CMSMS, etc., but ultimately found them too complex. I think the advantage of WordPress is that it’s extensible enough to do what we want it to do, is a lot easier to manage than full-blown CMS applications and hopefully this will lead to it being kept up to date regularly. After all, if something’s onerous to use, then it won’t get used, will it?
There’s been a couple of companies who’ve contacted us about advertising on the site. Whilst this may seem we’re dirtying our hands with unpleasant commerciality, the fact is it costs money to maintain a website. Not much, admittedly, all we have to pay for is the hosting package and domain renewals every now and again, but any money coming into the Register will help to pay for this site and other things like SIXappeal. I’ll ensure that any advertising is as unintrusive as possible.
For now, just sit back and relax. Good things are coming. Bear with me while I populate the static pages with essential items from the old site, once this is done we’ll start getting some new stuff on here.
