Hawthorn Farm, Martin Mill, Dover, Kent.
20th – 26th June 2011
This year our National will be held in Kent, in the picturesque village of Martin Mill, just a stone’s throw away from the White Cliffs of Dover and only 21 miles from France. Charles Harrison tells more:
We have chosen Hawthorn Farm as our base. This site is fantastic and is a favourite for both the Harrisons and Slingsbys (we have been staying at this site for most Easter breaks for the last few years and find the site offers everything we need – beautiful surroundings and all facilities).
We do hope you are able to join us this year and have enclosed a booking form in SIXappeal 177 and can also be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
To whet your appetite, here’s a little more info on the venue and our plans so far in terms of the week’s events:
Hawthorn Farm is situated within 28 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The amenities on site are excellent with both shower and laundry facilities together with a well-stocked shop and café. We will have access to three large fields giving us plenty of room for pitching up, a dedicated area for the Saturday judjing and enough space to host our Saturday night function.
We are currently finalising plans for the week’s events, which will include a treasure hunt, a trip to France and a tour of a local brewery. There will aso be ample free time for you to explore the local area. This part of Kent is steeped in history and there are many things you may wish to do: take a cliff-top walk along the White Cliffs of Dover, visit Dover Castle and its secret wartime tunnels or maybe a trip to the Battle of Britain Museum. Plus, Canterbury is only a short drive away and offers superb shopping as well as its own cathedral.
We are planning a BBQ for our Friday night welcome and are sorting out the finer detail for our Saturday night function which will include a barn dance with live music, food, a bar and of course ‘the raffle’.
We do hope that our plans appeal to you and look forward to seeing you in June.
